Harlow
A Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Warrior
Harlow started measuring small in the womb around 19 weeks & our world got flipped upside down! We were told by numerous doctors & specialists that Harlow’s chances of survival were very slim due to her small size, that her heart would give out, and we would deliver stillborn. We were airlifted to a Level 3 NICU 2.5 hours away & stayed a total of 12 days combined for Harlow made her arrival via Urgent C-Section. No one had given us any hope for Harlow; we knew we had to be her hope. Harlow was born 27 weeks and 1 day, weighing 14.5 oz. She has overcome numerous illnesses throughout her 355-day NICU stay and has always had a smile on her face. Harlow has severe lung damage since she was born so prematurely & her primary diagnosis is bronchopulmonary dysplasia. She got her tracheostomy when she was around 9 months old & it has been life-changing. Harlow enjoys playtime & her therapies. Harlow will hopefully in the future be able to have her tracheostomy removed & continue to thrive.
