A Hypoxic Brain Injury Warrior

Benny was born perfectly healthy. At just 4 months old, while his mommy and daddy were working hard to provide for him, he was left unattended by a caregiver. He rolled over in a seat he wasn’t buckled into and suffered a hypoxic brain injury.

At first, the doctors told us he wouldn’t make it. Then, they told us he would never breathe on his own. But Benny has defied every expectation—he is here, and he is breathing on his own.

We still have a very long road ahead and are learning so much about the medical world. But from the start, our warrior has inspired a rally cry: “BEElieve in Benny.” That saying has stuck, and his support group has grown to over 13,000 people. We are forever grateful for their love and support.

Bumble bees have become our symbol of hope and strength. Many of our family members now have bumble bee tattoos to honor our fight for our sweet Bubs.
