Winter
A Preemie and G-Tube Warrior
For 6 long years, we prayed to be blessed with the opportunity to become parents. After years of disappointment and prayer, we were thrilled to learn we would welcome our new addition! Winter was almost two months premature due to life-threatening preeclampsia. When she was born, she had a long road to recovery in the NICU for over 90 days! During that time, we had some very frightening moments. Still, Winter proved to be a warrior and continued to heal despite all odds! Because of her oral aversion and inability to feed, she did receive surgery to give her a g-tube. Every single day, we work very hard to help her start trying to eat by mouth! It is our goal for her to be able to eat enough to nourish herself so we can finally be done with the g-tube! We have had a few complications. She has had some infections and definitely some pain.
I am so inspired by my daughter! In the face of adversity, she always has the most beautiful smile and laughter every morning, regardless of her g-tube and all the issues that can arise from it. We are so incredibly blessed to know and love Winter! No matter what challenges she is faced with, her smiles and laughter reach all the way to heaven so that God can be reminded of our gratitude! PS- We LOVE Laree + Co! We had such a hard time finding a brand with a 3-point zipper until we found you guys!!! Now, because of your incredible design, she can be fully zipped up while giving us access to her G-tube for feeds! This brand is wonderfully altruistic, and we would be honored to be a part of it!!!
