Kamdyn
A Trisomy 18 Angel
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Kamdyn Janell made her entrance early on the morning of March 11, 2021 at 4:39 am weighing 3lb 14.4oz and measuring 17in long. During the early minutes following the delivery, Kamdyn struggled to breathe, which was not surprising since I went from 6cm dilated to complete in minutes. Three pushes later she was here and she was breathing on her own within minutes. It was during those first few minutes, when medical intervention was not working, that I held her skin to skin. Only then did her breathing become steady. I realized in that moment, my love was enough, God’s love was enough.
Kamdyn’s hands were clenched, her feet were clubbed, she had low set ears and her right outer ear was missing. Her eyes were further apart than usual and her head had a very distinct shape – but she was so perfect.
We brought Kamdyn home the following day and on the morning of March 13, 2021 at 3:18am (yes, Trisomy 18 numbers), she went home to be with her Heavenly Father.
I carried Kamdyn for 39 weeks - feeling her kicks, helping her grow. We snuggled and loved her for 46 hours and 39 minutes. Today she is perfect in every way. I am praising God that he allowed me to be her mama.
