Hampton

A CHD Angel

Hampton was born prematurely with suspicion for coarctation of the aorta, along with her AVSD, which had been diagnosed 9 weeks before her birth. After several failed attempts to have her AVSD repaired, surgery was finally completed 23 days after her first birthday. Her chance of making it out of the operating room was 50/50 due to her severe pulmonary hypertension. She fought for 40 days and lost her battle due to a pulmonary hemorrhage from a medication overdose, just weeks after being taken off ECMO and given a better chance of survival.
