A HLHS and Trisomy 6p Unique Angel

Colette was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome at 18 weeks gestation and later Trisomy 6p Unique. Our beautiful daughter was so energetic while her mama carried her, always squished up in the left side of the belly and kicking like crazy. Colette couldn't wait to be induced and was ready to meet her parents, so two days before her scheduled induction, and while Daddy was 4 hours away, sweet Colette Cook Hasty came into the world via emergency c-section at almost midnight! Due to her Trisomy, she was little, at 4lbs 8oz and 16.5" long, but mighty. In the NICU, she would turn her head when she heard her mama's voice, even being intubated, and her numbers would plummet when her mama cried or wasn't touching Colette. She was a stinker in every way and brought so much joy over those 13 hours her Mama and Daddy got with her.

December 11, 2023, Colette Cook Hasty died at 9:03pm, being held by her Mama and Daddy, when it was found out her heart was too sick, her lungs too underdeveloped, both her kidneys and liver were shutting down, and she also had a blood clotting disorder. Losing Colette has been the most challenging thing her parents have ever done, but the joy for those 9 months and 13 hours was priceless! Colette's mama started Choosing Colette after her daughter's passing to give back to families in the NICU through genetic counselors' offices and outreach across the USA! For every item purchased, one is donated to families.
