Alcaous
An Autism Warrior
When Alcaous was first born, he had less than a 15% chance of living. He had brain trauma, liver and kidney failure, and fatally high acid levels. On the second day in the NICU, his doctor told us that we needed to plan a funeral. That night, I was praying to God to save my little boy. The next morning, he had a seizure. His doctor called us to come quickly because he would most likely pass after it. As my family and I got there, his doctors and nurses were standing around him, astonished. After his seizure, his vital signs and stats went up. He was awake and alert. I have no doubt that day, God saved him.
Flash forward, after multiple specialist doctor visits, he was classed as a medical miracle. At two years old, we got his official diagnosis through Greenbush. He has level 2 autism, and he is nonverbal. But he is my resilient warrior. He has never let his diagnoses stop him. He is amazing with math. He can communicate with his iPad. He is so smart and loving. He has defied all the odds.
